Parents pay $10 a day per child for regular hours (4 to 10 hours) at licensed, funded centres and homes.

    Who qualifies

Infant, nursery and preschool children at licensed, funded facilities. School-age children pay $10 a day for three periods (before school, lunch, after school), and since December 8, 2024 also on in-service days and school holidays. Unfunded licensed centres can charge non-subsidized families more, but cannot charge subsidized families above the maximum.

    Subsidy

The Child Care Subsidy Program still helps eligible families. Check the province for income limits.

    How to apply

You do not apply for the $10 rate. It applies automatically at eligible facilities.

    Extras

    • Part-time care under 4 hours costs less than $10. Care over 10 hours costs more.
    • Winnipeg median in 2026: $10 for infants and preschool.
