    WhatIsCredit.ca

    Canadian credit, explained plainly.

Most of us were never taught how credit scores, credit reports, secured cards or consumer proposals actually work. Much of what ranks in search is written for Americans, with FICO scores and Chapter 13, none of which apply here. WhatIsCredit.ca exists to explain the Canadian version in plain language.

    How it is made

WhatIsCredit.ca is an independent Canadian publication. We use AI tools to read the long documents (issuer terms, regulator pages, bureau explanations) and draft clear summaries. Card figures link to the issuer's own page and show the date we last checked. Guides list the official sources they rely on. A person checks each card figure and quote against the issuer's page before it is published. The site is published under the publication's name rather than a personal byline, so the attention stays on the sources.

    What we do not do

We are not a bank, lender, broker or financial adviser, and we do not sell financial products. We do not make predictions about the economy or tell you what to buy. When a page mentions a product, it says who it may suit and who it may not.

    How we are paid

We have no paid partnerships today. If that changes, we'll say so on every affiliated page.

    Corrections

If something is wrong or out of date, email hello@whatiscredit.ca and we will correct it and note the change, as set out in our Editorial Policy.

This is general education, not financial, legal, tax or credit advice. It does not consider your personal situation. Check figures on the official source, and speak with a licensed professional before you decide.
