    TransUnion Canada Dispute Letter Template

    Quick Answer

If something on your TransUnion is wrong, you can ask TransUnion to investigate for free, online or by mail. This page gives you a plain-language letter, what to include, and TransUnion's mailing address as listed on its own website.

    • An account, debt or inquiry is listed that isn't yours.
    • Your file seems mixed with someone else's (a different name, address or account you don't recognize).
    • Information is outdated, such as a debt shown as unpaid after you paid it.
    • Your personal details, like your name or address, don't match who you are.
    • Accurate negative information can't be removed this way. A dispute only corrects errors.

    • Your full name and current address (plus your previous address if you moved recently).
    • Your date of birth.
    • Your TransUnion file or reference number, if your report shows one.
    • A clear description of each error and what it should say instead.
    • Copies of supporting documents, never originals.

Your file or report number appears on the credit report you received; it's optional if you can't find it.

TransUnion asks people disputing by mail to use its own form ( Credit Investigation Request Form ). You can attach the letter below as your written explanation.

Copy the text below, replace the [bracketed] parts with your details, and keep a copy for your records.
